An international jazz trio formed by students of the Conservatory in Amsterdam brings together three distinctive musical personalities. Their repertoire blends original compositions with creatively rearranged jazz standards. Energetic playing, mutual interaction, and inventive improvisation form the foundation of their unique sound.

Trio Vree

Drie ingenieurs leerden elkaar in Delft kennen en deelden een passie voor moderne jazz. Bandleider en pianist Daniël Vree laat zich inspireren door de toonaangevende trio’s als E.S.T., Brad Mehldau trio en Medeski Martin & Wood wat resulteert in een modern geluid met lyrische thema’s en avontuurlijke grooves. In september 2018 hebben zij hun debuutalbum uitgebracht.

About Theo

Theo Naishtat is a jazz guitarist from Buenos Aires, Argentina (born March 11th,
2000), based in Amsterdam. Graduated in 2025 from the prestigious European Jazz
Master program of the Conservatories of Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, and Trondheim,
Theo has become an active musician in the European jazz scene.

He has released three albums as a leader—”Refugio” (2021), “Afinidades” (2023),
and “Oblivion” (2024)—and has contributed to numerous recordings as a sideman.
From a young age, Theo was deeply involved in the Buenos Aires jazz scene,
performing in jazz clubs, festivals, museums, and theaters throughout Argentina.

After finishing his bachelor at the Conservatory of Buenos Aires and relocating to
Europe in 2023 to further his studies, he has extensively toured with his quartet,
showcasing a unique blend of jazz with Argentine influences. His latest album,
“Oblivion,” has captivated audiences at various jazz clubs and festivals in France,
The Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Belgium, Switzerland and Argentina. He has
performed as leader in renowned clubs in Europe like Sunset-Sunside, 38 Riv, and
Son De La Terre (Paris), Bimhuis (Amsterdam), Café de Muze (Antwerpen),
Jazzhaus Heidelberg (Heidelberg), Neushoorn Jazz Café (Leeuwarden), Alte
Feuerwache (Mannheim), Dokkhuset (Trondheim), Fuglen (Oslo), and Rank (Zürich).

Theo Naishtat is een jazzgitarist uit Buenos Aires, Argentinië (geboren op 11 maart 2000), woonachtig in Amsterdam. Hij studeerde in 2025 af aan de prestigieuze European Jazz Master-opleiding van de Conservatoria van Amsterdam, Parijs, Berlijn en Trondheim. Theo is uitgegroeid tot een actieve muzikant in de Europese jazzscene.

Hij heeft drie albums uitgebracht als bandleider – “Refugio” (2021), “Afinidades” (2023)
en “Oblivion” (2024) – en heeft als sideman bijgedragen aan talloze opnames.

Van jongs af aan was Theo nauw betrokken bij de jazzscene van Buenos Aires en trad hij op in jazzclubs, op festivals, in musea en theaters in heel Argentinië.

Wij zijn HOUSD een nieuwe band uit Den Haag en Amsterdam. Bestaande uit Gudrun Blok op zang, Sehee Kim op piano, Joseph Defromont op contrabas en Olof Nylén op drums. We studeren allemaal aan het conservatorium van Amsterdam waar we elkaar in september hebben ontmoet. We hebben in december 2025 de  eerste prijs, publieksprijs en persprijs gewonnen bij het Princes Christina Jazz Concours. We spelen vooral eigen composities en jazz standerds, en werken altijd aan nieuwe stukken

Were HOUSD a new band from The Hague and Amsterdam. We have Gudrun Blok on Vocals, Sehee Kim on piano, Joseph Defromont on bass and Olof Nylén on drums. We all study at the conservatory of Amsterdam where we met in September. We also won the first prize, media and public prize in the Princes Christina Jazz Concours. We mostly play our own compositions with a story and jazzstanderds, but we’re always writing new music!

GUITAR LOVE

A magazine for guitar players quotes the following typical sayings of Van Iterson: about the sound of his instrument ` I used to try all kinds of separate hi fi material but I know now that sound primarily comes from the fingers. At home I always practice without amplifiers. That way you’re forced to get the best out of your fingers.’ And a charming `homely’ one about his love for the guitar: `A few times a year I fall asleep on the couch with the guitar on my lap. In the early morning my children wake me up ordering me to go to bed because they want to watch children’s tv’.

Martijn van Iterson may be down to earth but he obviously has a Dream. As he says himself in his straightforward, unaffected way: `I dream of the ultimate guitar solo because as far as I’m concerned it hasn’t happened yet’.

PRIZES GALORE

Born on July 11th 1970 in Leiden, Van Iterson graduated cum laude from the Hilversum Academy of Music in 1993. He was a member of the Jazz Dance Formation ‘All the King’s Men’; was a guest solo player on Dutch National TV and Radio with well known orchestras like ‘The Skymasters’, the ‘Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw’ and the ‘Metropole Orchestra’ and worked with several leading names like Jim Hall and Jean ‘Toots’ Thielemans. In 1996, he recorded with a.o. guitarist Mike Stern and during a project of Stefan Lievestro he worked together with drummer Gary Novak (Chick Corea) and pianist Thierry Eliez (Dee Dee Bridgewater). He played in the cross-over formation ‘D-Code’, in the quintet of bass player Ruud Jacobs, in the quartet of trombonist Ilja Reijngoud, in the ‘Piet Noordijk Quintet’  and has his own quartet with pianist Karel Boehlee, bass player Frans van Geest and drummer Martijn Vink. Prizes were many: second in the Pall Mall Swing Award (1989), second in the Wessel Ilcken Award (1991), Heineken Cross Over Award (1991), the Laren Jazz Award 2012 and last but not least the Bird Award at the North Sea Jazz Festival 2004.

That is in the past he says modestly, without pretence, and wonders – characteristically – whether such a review should be in a story like this.

On September 29, Robert Rook returns to Twee Spieghels with his New Era Band. This ensemble offers a modern twist on jazz, featuring electric grooves and the addition of a groove box. Prepare to be enthralled by the energetic and innovative sound of this band.

Justine is een jazzvocaliste gevestigd in Delft. Ze zet een set neer die past bij de energie van de avond – van rustige, sfeervolle ballads tot energieke swing vol improvisatie, met als grote inspiratiebron Ella Fitzgerald. Samen met haar band, bestaande uit medestudenten van het Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag, brengt ze muziek die zowel intiem als levendig aanvoelt.

Ze heeft gestudeerd aan het Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen en volgt momenteel een opleiding in de richting jazz vocals aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium. Eerder trad ze onder meer op bij bruiloften en verschillende Haagse en Delftse jazzcafés. Met invloeden uit de traditionele jazz, interpretaties van hedendaagse stukken en eigen arrangementen, brengt ze een uniek geluid mee naar de avond.

About Max

Max Kuitems is a pianist from the Netherlands. After studying at the University of Leiden, he pursued jazz piano studying under Rob Van Bavel at the Hague’s Royal Conservatory. From that point he started to become a presence on the NL’s international jazz scene, playing in many Dutch jazz venues. He’s toured in Norway, China and Germany, played on the Willem Wilmink Award nominated children’s EP ‘Reken Maar Van Jazz’, is part of indiejazz group Snuifmos and is currently playing on Jazzton’s album release tour, “In Search of You”. Kuitems is also a prolific composer who synthesizes elements of melody and adventure into a coherent whole. He’s been working on this in his weekly residence in the well-known Cafe Le Duc with numerous award winning musicians such as Ewen Grall (trio Brūme), Antonin Jaccard (The Tonal Few) and more.

PUTZ THE FUNK IN TO JAZZ!

Begin 2001 start Jan-Jaap van Os (gitaar) Fazzz om jazz toegankelijker en hipper te maken. Foppe Mijnlieff (Rhodes/Mooge) is al enige tijd de toetsenist als in 2008 drummer Reinier van Bevervoorde zich voegt bij het kwartet. Als in 2010 Philip Bakker de bas vacature opvult is de cirkel rond. Er worden nu ook naast het repertoire van Herbie Hancock tot Snarky Puppy, ook eigen nummers gecomponeerd.

De slogan van hun laatste CD/Spotify “Putz the Funk into Jazz“ zal niemand verbazen als je de band in levende lijve hoort!

Ga met de JAMbirds op reis langs herontdekte stukken uit het klassieke jazzrepertoire en de verrassende jaren ’80, van het Great American Songbook tot Chick Corea, Steps Ahead en de Yellowjackets. Deze vier muzikanten hebben hun sporen verdiend in pop-, soul-, jazz- en Bigbands. En dat is te horen, elk stuk SWINGT.

Het repertoire is gevarieerd. Naast goed in het gehoor liggende jazz en prachtige ballads komen er ook Latin, funk en blues georiënteerde nummers aan bod.

Veel stukken worden prachtig instrumentaal opgebouwd, maar het repertoire bevat ook zorgvuldig gekozen, verrassende vocale intermezzo’s.
